Election date: 1758? (Elected to the Young Junto before September 22, 1758.)Philip Syng III (c. 27 January 1732–c. 14 November 1760) was a silversmith and a member of the Young Junto, elected c. 1758. Born in Philadelphia, he followed his father and grandfather in his choice of profession. Syng served as chairman and secretary of the Young Junto, attended its meetings regularly, and submitted queries for debate concerning hydrostatics, the value of anger, the habits of good readers, and the causes of storms. His untimely death in 1760—along with the death of Francis Rawle the following year—caused the Young Junto to suspend its meetings during the summer of 1761. His brother-in-law Edmund Physick was a member of the Young Junto, and his father Philip Syng, Jr., and nephew Philip Syng Physick were APS members. (PI)
